This lovely towel isn’t the thicker workhorse like most of the other towels I’ve woven. It was woven a little more openly than I usually do and it gave it a very light, soft hand. It would be beautiful lining a bread basket or a tray with a pot of tea and some cookies on it. This towel is woven in twill with cotton and linen threads. The stripe is black on neutral tans and creams. I like to add a nice little handwoven hang tab to the hems of my towels and I found the perfect one in my basket full of bands.
After I take them off the loom, I wash all of my towels in hot water, machine dry and press to finish the weaving process. Unless noted, my towels are machine hemmed.
The care of a handwoven towel couldn’t be easier. Just throw in the washing machine wash and dry. Please don’t use bleach. It’s hard on the cotton and will fade the colors. The towel will get more absorbent and softer with use.
