Well that was quick, wasn’t it? It hasn’t been blocked yet, but Joe wanted to try it out this afternoon. Okay.. yea… I see it’s a little big, but Daniel can get some wear out of it this year and Joe should be able to wear it next year. He still wanted to model it for the blog since it’s “his” sweater. lol. I’m a big believer in getting full wear out of kids clothes. Especially if I’m knitting them. Notice the green grass? The last time I checked it’s January and I’m in Germany. I think that’s gonna change in the next couple of days. They’re predicting the white stuff.
Here’s a picture of the change purse I gave my friend LeeAnn for Christmas. I have one more to do for my SIL, Monica. Click it.
What a great picture of Joe in his new sweater! The sweater is beautiful but Joe has stolen my heart with his smile. BTW, Jean, now you can release the knitting elves to the rest of us, 3 days! Amazing.

I just found your blog last week. I think it was through a link on the someone’s blog on the spinning wheel ring surf. The red sweater is gorgeous. I can’t imagine how you finished it so fast! RE: that green grass? Don’t know if our cold snap will come across the Atlantic, but if it does, you might go out and kiss it goodbye now.
I just tried the link that Dan gave you.AAHHHHHHH what a game, lol. It can drive you nuts but is also lots of fun.I think I have to put one of my dogs into the game-she will catch them, lol
Ok, fine. You pulled me out of the woodwork. A little about me. I’m a beginning knitter, I only have three finished projects and am now working on a sock and a baby blanket. I love reading about all your projects!
I just found your blog about two weeks ago. I’m just up the road from you in Frankfurt at Rhein-Main AFB which is closing in December.
I have 3 kids, 2 girls and a boy; so I definately know about sometimes making a sweater too big (or small). At least I know that it will fit one of them unless it pink or some other girly color.
Your boys are so handsome, and I agree that they look different in the nice portrait without those megawatt smiles!
Great sweater, and I love the sheep game. I’m a Bobbing Bobcat at 0.2042 seconds. 😉
*lol* You’re the only one smiling in that portrait! hehe.
The coin purse is great! I will definitely have to get one of those kits.
Mim
That was brilliant! The music, the games, the knitting, do your talents never end! I am completely in awe. Your boys look so much like their Dad too who even though isn’t smiling, is looking very much the proud father/husband.
I was a Bobbing Bobcat too!
It is a little big,but looks great ! I love that dark red on boys.
You’re one of those scary efficient people, aren’t you ? :-] That’s how you get so much knitting done.
Wow, who put turbo engines on your needles? The sweater looks great!
Newbie Knitter here, love your blog,I enjoy checking out your work and all your knitting chatter. Thanks for sharing.
Michele in England – wishing for snow so my daughter can build a snowman before she is a teenager
Glad I am not the only one who doesn’t sweat when it comes out big, Big sis can wear it until little sis can. He’s a doll!
Ok…….fess up………..knitting machine?? LOL. OMG….you are AMAZING!! Did you sit glued to a chair to finish that? It took me months to finish my daughters.
I was going to wait to post and maybe win a little gift….but I couldn’t wait (no self control). I almost peed my pants watching that videocam……hahahahahaha!!!! I have forwarded it to all of my friends. The scarey part, is that i haven’t a clue what he is saying, but it is to funny. THANKYOU for the best laugh I have had all day….hehehehe
Hello..I enjoy your blog so very much! Daniel’s sweater looks fabulous on him!
Jean, your son is adorable in that sweater! (And the sweater ain’t bad, lol.) Bea from the elann chat board
Wow – you knit FAST. I’ve been reading you for a few weeks. I’m a newbie knitter, getting a lot of inspiration and learning surprisingly lots from you folks out there. Beautiful work, and you have adorable kids!
Hi Jean, The lopi sweater looks great ! When I knit something for kids, I ususally knit 1 – 2 sizes bigger. They grow up very fast.
Good idea for the 500th comments prize. I have same idea too !
Just found your blog and am really enjoying it! I am a newby kniter and am amazed at the projects you complete.
WOW!
You are an incredibly fast knitter!
Your son looks great–I love his dimple 🙂
I can’t resist a contest. 😉
Nice sweater! I’m going to make some felted slippers out of my lopi from Elann.
Oh Jean the sweater is great and Joe looks so cute!!! I love the family photo! The boys are so adorable! Have you gotten the rest of the yarn for Dan’s sweater yet? Can’t wait to see it finished. When you had to cut it my heart almost stoppped. Brave lass!
I love the sweater – beautiful work! (Oh and contests, too!)
Love the sweater and Joe looks very happy to be wearing it too! Your blog is amazing as well, entertaining AND with much knitting info. Will be visiting often!
Oh, don’t we get credit for being early commenters? The beaded purse is a work of art. I do love your blog. It is so much fun getting to know you.

Yay for getting lots of wear out of clothes…very important when you knit them.
I have made the same sweater 4 times now and everytime I do it I try for 2 sizes bigger than intended kid. Last one went to the NWT in Canada and was worn by 3 kids. Like the color of yours and kid inside is pretty cute as well.
Hello! I found your blog on thru the BOB list. I really look forward to reading your posts. I think your blog is very well done!
The Lopi sweater (and the model too) is adorable!
Love reading your blog. Thanks for the wide spectrum of knitting news especially the description of your knitting adventure to the Shetlands. Can’t get enough. Beautiful work. Happy knitting.
Love the Lopi! I try to make my sweaters big too so they go for more than 1 year with the kids.
Oh, am I it – gosh I would love to be it! I’ll comment you to death if I have a chance of winning. Oh, and love the sweater too! It looks lovely and warm.
Wow, that was quick! Very cute sweater — and Joe’s just adorable. Room to grow is good!
Did you know that you have 102 Subscribers through bloglines?
Anyway, much as I would love the Fleece Artist Kit, I’ve already been blessed with goodies from Germany. 🙂
Great pics today – that’s a really nice family photo, and the purse is so cute!
I can’t help it, but I’m a little jealous of your green grass. There’s none here and it’s been 6 degrees (-13 with the wind chill) here in Boston the past two days. Yuck!
Have a great Wednesday!
Jackie
You pulled me out of lurkerdom… I adore the Lopi! I haven’t seen the inside of the book, though – is there a pattern for adults too?
Okay, so I can’t herd sheep. I keep being told that I am a sluggish snail. Maybe I had better kniw some more. And my grass was green yesterday like your but it is now white!
An embarassment of riches today’s entry is ! So many goodies — Joe and his sweater, links, games, pix and prizes. Jeepers. I knew I was a sluggish snail but to have a sheep tell me… oh the agony.
I’ll unlurk for a prize! Great blog.
Oh, and I’m a Bobbing Bobcat 😉
Love the sweater! And your boys are so cute. What a wonderful family you have. 🙂
Three days to finish that sweater? Are you the long-lost twin of the Yarn Harlot, who amazes all her readers with her speed and skill??
I stand in awe of you both. (Well, OK, I sit in awe of you both… it’s much easier to type that way!)
I’m in Daytona Beach, where it’s also still green outside, with lows this week in the mid-to-upper 30s and highs in the mid-to-upper 60s. Come February, we’ll have some grass-browning frost, for sure.
Best to your gorgeous family!
Hi to the Scottish Lamb from a very windy Edinburgh! I too have unlurked myself to say hello! Loved reading about your trip to Shetland – anytime you’re passing through my way, do let me know – I’ll be happy to show you around!
Love the Lopi sweater and the family pic. Very nice. 🙂
Very nice sweater for Daniel, I mean Joe! The family photo is also very sweet.
I have been knitting about 9-10 months & enjoy reading your blog. Nice family photo.
Love the sweater. I usually knit them a little big for my children too. All that work deserves more than one season of wear. I enjoy yor blog
the contest has certainly prompted a lot of comments – how about a picture of the prize on offer? and what about a special prize for some of your older fans? just kidding. am enjoying the craic as they say in Ireland
Hi!
I decided to come in and look at the new sweater! It looks terrific, and the muting job went really well too!

Hi Jean, I hope you don’t know feel obligated to respond to all these comments. I like the double sweater use plan. Whenever I start one for DD#1 and get “that look” from #2 I point out that she will soon be wearing it when it is outgrown. Now the idea of knitting them all in the size to fit #1 to start with but just allotting them as to whose is whose strikes! Hmm. I love reading your blog and seeing your kids. Daryl
Jean – that Lopi sweater you have started is like a couple I knit for myself when the boys were small. I wish I still had the pattern I used then. I used Paton’s double knitting yarn, I think.
Holy cow…step away from the blogs and you miss an amazing knitting feat AND a contest. Damn!
I had not read your blog seriously until today. I perked up when I saw that you and your husband met in the military. My husband is in the Army National Guard and has been activated. He has been to Kosovo and will soon leave for Kuwait.Con’t
