I didn’t get a lot of knitting done because of the flu bug, but I have made some great progress on Dan’s Hardangervidda. The colors are black, light grey and a merlot red. Lookin’ good.
I’m at the facing rows at the top of the first sleeve. I messed up in estimating the yardage (I’m using a DK weight by Gjestal that I got for a steal from Elann) and am going to come up short on the light grey. Luckily, another Elanner had a couple of balls she didn’t need and has mailed them on to me. Now it looks like I might have enough, but it’ll cut it very close and now, with two extra balls coming, I don’t have to dread it. That would have been a very ugly situation.
That sweater is breathtaking. Your fair isle never ceases to amaze me.
I hope you had wonderful holiday season, despite a visit from the flu… (I’m way behind on the blogs too 🙂

Loving the Hardangervidda!
You are just awesome. Some day I am going to get a Dale colorwwork sweater done. I have made quite a few Dale hats and even lace Dale baby items, but a real live, adult Dale stranded sweater. Not yet. Gonna do it, just need time.
Jean – I really like the Hard…. That’s the sort of sweater I had in mind when I browsed the yarn store a few days ago. I looked through the Dale of Norway books and yarns for ages. Finally ended up buying Icelandic wool called Lopi Lite and a book giving various patterns for that wool. Now I am well started on a cardigan. I’m kind of making up my own design and color combinations and plan to buy more wool as I go along. Only problem is I’ll have to decide on the rest of the sweater before I leave on Sunday. My Dale of Norway purchase was some more of the Heilo which I used to make a scarf. And my DIL bought some Heilo to make socks.
What lovely gifts and as usual your fair isle knitting is just unbelievable! Very nice.
I’m sorry to hear that you were sick with the flu. I was sick with it before Christmas…..no fun! Glad to see you are on the mend.
Lovely gifts and goregous sweater. I have to get back to my Dale sweater one of these days…perhaps with the blog break…:)
Isn’t it nice to have the kids back in school and hubby at work? All’s right with the world. Hope you recover from your flu bug soon. I had the flu last year, right about now. This year it’s only a cold. Much better.
Dan’s sweater is going to be beautiful. Wow! The design is just wonderful.
