I Don’t Mean To Brag….

I don’t mean to brag, but c’mon…. Hardangervidda is done!

I’m pretty stoked right now.  Look at that good lookin’ guy in that gorgeous sweater!!  I have carpal tunnel syndrome in my arm from patting myself on the back. lol.

Even the weather cooperated this morning and gave a little snow effect.

Seriously, is it any wonder why I married this man after only knowing each other two months? He proposed after we knew each other for three weeks, dated for one. Gasp!  That was over twelve years ago so I guess we weren’t as nuts as everyone thought.  In our defense, we were both in the Army.   I was at NSA in Maryland and he was in San Antonio.  If we didn’t get married we couldn’t be together.  So we went to the JP in Annapolis, MD and we had a big church wedding a year later.  Happens a lot in the military.

I did change the bottom.  Got rid of the middle ribbing.  Dan’s like me.  Plain vanilla, except he goes for the chocolate when it comes to ice cream.

Well done you, fits him like a glove,ok strike that, sweater, and very manly he’s looking too. When you find the right man you have to snap him up, they’re hard to find and look, he’s smiling in this one! Bless, it must be because he knows he’s going to get lots of comments and is doing his hardest to look appreciative. Beautiful work again Jean.

The sweater is as lovely as I thought it would be from the sneak peeks we got yesterday but wow – three sweaters in little more than a week. I’m impressed. As for getting married so quickly – sometimes you just know. I knew (although we made no plans to marry) after just three months that I wanted to marry my husband. We have the best marriage of any couple we know and I know how lucky I am. I wouldn’t recommend such haste but sometimes the time that has past is irrelevent when you know it’s right.

OMG!! That sweater is exactly like the ones I saw at EPCOT a few wknds ago. Do I dare tell you what it retailed for???
Anyhow, it looks great. Keeping patting yourself until you get a repetitive motion injury!

I was looking forward to seeing Dan’s new sweater and I am not disappointed. It is lovely!! When I get finished with a few of my WIP, I am going to give stranded knitting a try. If it comes out 1/2 as nice as this, I will be thrilled.

Beautiful!! Sweater and guy. I love stranded knitting very much. It is the icing on the cake and Dale sweater assembly is so interesting. Thanks for sharing the picture. As for marrying the right guy no matter how long it takes to get ‘there’; I have one, too! And he lets me knit all day long, and he wears sweaters, too.

What a beautiful sweater. Thanks for the inspiration. I am going to dig out my Dale books right now. Go ahead and pat yourself on the back, you deserve it

Oh what a gorgeous sweater.Girl you are so talented, and fast.I bet the needles are still smoking.
And as for Dan,you did good.Hubby and I did the same thing, despite everybody telling us we are totally nuts.Sometimes you just know that this is the one.
Well, going to get that book out I got in Germany with all the nice Norway sweaters and will try my luck on a sweater for my DGS#1.

The sweater looks perfect. Yes, anyone who can knit and purl can make this sweater, but most can’t make it look like that. I know if I tried, it would be puckering all over the place.

  10. Nilda says:

Oh great. Now Rob wants one too. Yikes. Where’s the pattern from again? What was the yarn? Why oh why did he have to peer over my shoulder just as I was looking at your blog? Sigh.

  11. Margene says:

Jean! It is awesome! What a great job and he does look handsome (and happy). Great job!!
Lisa (Red Scarf Project) received my scarf and wrote the nicest note. She said mine was the first to arrive!

  12. Saralyn says:

I love that sweater! I would like to know which pattern it is, too. More info! More info! You probably already shared, but I just started reading your blog, and haven’t had time to go through all the archives yet. I really like how you can see snowflakes falling against the dark of the sweater. It makes the wool sweater look right at home. Your two guys sure look alike! Great family.

  13. LeeAnn says:

The sweater is awesome! All that hard work paid off. Now you can finish helping me….haha You know I love ya.

  14. Dan says:

Ok, I promised I would never post to Jean’s blog, but I gotta…I LOVE THIS SWEATER!! My old favorite will have to put up with the moth balls, sorry Jean, but when you have a Ferrari… I would also like to thank all you wonderful ladies for your comments, I might be able to get my head through the door when I get home tonight! Jean is truly a beautiful and talented woman, the boys and I couldn’t ask for better (and I’m gonna work on her for another sweater soon, so I gotta cheese it up a little). Thanks LJ, and I might be home before midnight…

  15. Michelle says:

Couldn’t resist posting…Jean is an AWESOME knitter…and I should know I live right behind her! Dan wears all the sweaters Jean knits for him with great pride…it does look great Jean…you ROCK…and Dan is a total cheese master…watch out Jean he wants something!!! They are both GREAT people and WONDERFUL friends…now I need to catch up on my knitting, Jean is making me feel like a slacker!

  16. Karen says:

Ooooo it is beautiful and fits perfect!! You should be patting yourself on the back. Wonderful knitting Jean! And your comment from hubby was so nice! I hope to knit sweaters like that someday.

  17. Angie says:

Wow!! And that’s a great lookin’ sweater, too. πŸ™‚ Awesome job, someday I’ll have the guts to make a whole sweater. Beautiful…

  18. Mary Beth says:

I am in awe! Don’t go saying all that stuff about if you can knit and purl. Takes a master to make one look as good as that, plus you couldn’t have gotten a better fit (or a more handsome guy!) Congratulations!

  19. Eva Shiu says:

Hi ! The fairisle sweater is gorgerous ! It is perfect on you hubby. He must be very proud to wear it and tell everyone that the sweater is knitted by wife.
    Good work !
    Eva

I’ve been reading you for a while and just had to post a comment today — I also married my husband two months (to the day!) after I met him. Everyone thought we were crazy and here we are, almost five years later with a baby, happy as ever. Hooray for people who know they want to get married when they meet!

  21. Heather (from elann) says:

    Jean
Your Dan looks so handsome! And the sweater is fabulous! What a great combo a handsome man and a great sweater. You have every right to brag!

  22. Nanette says:

Jean, the sweater is gorgeous! And you’re lucky to have a DH who actually wears his Norwegian sweaters. My DH has two but rarely wears them. sigh

  23. Kerstin says:

Oh man, Jean! Beautiful sweater, gorgeous husband … you have it all, lady! Someday I will grow up and be a real knitter. Thanks for the inspiration. Give yourself another pat (give him one, too, teehee).

  24. lillium says:

Wonderfully beautiful sweater. I can do this? Ummm… I think not – not yet at least. Dan’s comment made me smile – great pic and a handsome hubby in it.

  25. ellen says:

What a great combination! The sweater fits great, and sooo flattering! Doesn’t hurt that he’s such a cutie, of course.

  26. Kathleen says:

Wow, Jean. Sweater looks great and the man is pretty cute too. What a great wedding story. I love these creative engagements and weddings! I have to get back to Kevin’s Dale one of these days…

  27. Cara says:

Looks gorgeous! Break an arm patting yourself – it’s extremely well deserved. And I beg to differ – it’s a tad bit harder than knit and purl! Don’t sell yourself short. Excellent work.

  28. Kathleen in Nuremberg says:

Wowie wow wow! What a gorgeous sweater!! Nilda sent me your sight after I said hello on the Spin-List and your blog is great. I mate the fluted-banister socks, too – for my sister over a year ago and she’s still wearing them.
    Nice to meet you!

  29. Kathy says:

I found your blog linked from Craisy Daisy, and WOW – that’s one gorgeous sweater, and one hunky, happy hubby.
Hey, my parents married 6 weeks to the day after their first date and had stayed that way 54 years until my dad’s death. If it’s right, you don’t need to wait. I hope you have as many happy years!
    Did I mention that’s a gooooooooorgeous sweater?
